A Cyrax 3D laser scanning system is used to carry out a 3 dimensional survey. The laser scanner is used to rapidly capture a highly accurate point cloud of data. The accuracy of the 3 dimensional survey are at the 5 +/-mm level. As soon as the Scanner has scanned a structure or site, a combination of advanced 3-dimensional survey visualisation and modelling software allows us to use the 3D point clouds for a wide variety of applications, including those that require export to CAD and rendering software. Once the 3d point cloud has been imported into the software then data can be extracted form it at any time with out having to go out and survey the area again as you would with traditional methods using a theodilite. Being a remote measurement system, 3 dimensional surveys of hazardous areas can be undertaken without risk because the survey can carry out survey from a position of safety .This is especially when working on the railways because trains can run as normal while the surveying is taking place so there is less possession work that takes place which is more cost effective for the client and ourselves.
