Traditionally engineering and construction methods usually rely
on engineers collecting and assembling information from existing drawings
and taking many manual field measurements. These tedious and time consuming
activities, historically, expose projects to unacceptable schedule and financial
risks because of inaccurate data. Today, as-built 3D laser scanning technology
offers a very cost-effective solution for both the 2D or 3D as-built retrofit
project. Scantech international, works in this technology in both industrial
and civil applications, offers a complete and proven implementation as-built
package.
Having quality data and knowing how to most effectively use it is what ScanTech’s
As-Built Services delivers to our clients on the railways, highways and buildings.
We guide and assist our clients by providing many proven and established work
processes to assure success.
Laser data is captured directly as digital data (point cloud). The average
point count usually ranges from 600,000 to 1,000,000 points per scan. Digital
data permits an engineer to work directly in the cloud, which can minimize
or eliminate the cost associated with 3D CAD modeling. Since everything from
conduits to insignificant rod hangers are captured, the accuracy and completeness
of the 3D as-built laser cloud allows for a greater level of interference
removal which means high quility 3D models.
